The News Junkie

Description:

T-Shirt illustration of a giant woman attacking a bunch of army guys in this parody t-shirt for The News Junkie website.

The design was set up with special sun-activated color-changing ink, so that the colors only appear when out doors.  Really cool effect.  I gave this a halftone retro coloring treatment to try to emulate classic horror/fantasy magazines.

Check out more of my T-Shirt designs here.

This was a steampunk character design concept I worked on for Bogard Press - used in their educational book series and other marketing materials. I'd really love to get stronger with character design and pursue that direction some more.#art #illustration #steampunk #characterdesign #freelance #FlylandDesigns New Artwork From Instagram

Description:

Tommy Justice hired me to create this limited color skull and roses t-shirt design for his special-lady fans.

He’s got a great retro 80s hair-metal vibe that I tried to inject a little into the design.

Description:

Tommy Justice hired me to create this full-color illustration of him as a zombie riffing under the moonlight.

Tommy’s got a really great retro 80s hair metal vibe that I tried to capture here with the artwork.  Proving once again that the zombie craze will never die.  Just like a zombie.

Here's the first in a series of character concepts I developed for an educational publisher - the whole series had a steampunk vibe that I really got into.#art #illustration #characterdesign #freelance #FlylandDesigns New Artwork From Instagram

And finally, the logo design concept I came up with for the revamp of the Sushi Monster math app by Scholastic.#art #illustration #characterdesign #app #game #monster #creature #freelance #FlylandDesigns New Artwork From Instagram

Here were a couple more of the character designs I created for the Sushi Monster App by Scholastic - such a thrill to be hired by them, even if the project will never see daylight.#art #illustration #characterdesign #app #game #monster #creature #freelance #FlylandDesigns New Artwork From Instagram

This New YouTube video shows how I traditionally ink by hand with a Pentel brush pen for t-shirt design.

This is a T-Shirt illustration of a hip-hop singer gripping a mic spewing bad breath fumes I created for a hip-hop apparel brand called Unik Sovaj.

Description:

A fantasy author hired me to create this book cover illustration of his characters for his youth fantasy series of the Green Knight.

I love the challenge of designing characters from just a brief outline of a story.  The client asked me to create this in a softer pencil and digital painting style which is pretty different from my line-art driven style.  Real happy with how this turned out.

I was hired last year to create some character concept art for a revamp of Scholastic's math game for kids called Sushi Monster - unfortunately, due to a gypsy curse on my family, the whole project was cancelled before we could really get into it because the art director left the company. But it was a great experience while it lasted.#art #illustration #characterdesign #app #game #monster #creature #freelance #FlylandDesigns New Artwork From Instagram

Van’s General Store

Description:

Van’s General Store in NYC hired me to create this insane illustration of a crazy tattooed shark riding a bike through the city.

This was designed for a set of jackets as promotional gifts for the employees – the illustration is packed with symbols that represent different aspects of all their personalities.  No need to explain, it wouldn’t help!  Had a lot of fun with this.

My brother Keith is a super-talented pop-up engineer working at American Greetings – he's created this incredible pop-up book completely by himself by waking up at 5AM every morning before the rest of the fam gets up. He's launching the book via Kickstarter (WHICH STARTS TODAY!), and it would really mean a lot to me if you guys checked out his work. So inspiring! He poured everything he had into this – couldn't be more proud!http://www.messypopup.com/#pop-up #childrensbook #kickstarter #art Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen

Close-up view of a skeleton rider illustration I created just for myself to try out some new coloring techniques. I tried to skip the ink stage with this one, and instead just color over top some hard pencil lines. Wasaga Beach

Description:

I created this poster illustration of a motorcycle on the beach for the Wasaga Beach Rally in 2016.

Never been to the beach, but it looks amazing – it’s part of the longest fresh water beach in the world, located in Ontario Canada.  The rally is one of the biggest around apparently – it was a thrill to be hired to do the t-shirt.
