Description:
Honesty Seeds, a cannabis seed grower, and distributor hired me to create a fun seed character for their new logo to drive their packaging and marketing.
We had a lot of fun exploring different attitudes and poses for the character, and ended up going with something friendly and a bit goofy. I used a traditional font and banner design to give it an organic feel.

Coconut Joe’s hired me to update their branding, and create this colorful, beach-themed t-shirt design to promote their line of natural sun-care products.
After we redesigned their logo, we conceptualized a few different beach t-shirt designs before moving forward with this illustration focusing on a sea turtle swimming in a reef. The client wanted a fun, light-hearted look that they could take to conventions and sell in their shops.

Description:
Custom logo design I created for the rock music website Hard Rock Daddy of a mohawk doting skull with wings.
The client wanted something iconic and with a lot of character, so that we could later create a storyline with the mascot in different situations for t-shirts and other promotional items. The mohawk is a signature trait of the owner of the brand – we made it a vibrant blue, which will be carried out through all of the website’s branding.
We cycled through several different compositions and angles until we got it just right.

T-Shirt illustration I created of a mutated Chem Dawg with three heads for a marijuana-themed apparel line. Each shirt in the collection celebrates a different strain. I was lucky to work with Violet Beuachamp, a super gifted instrumental guitarist on a t-shirt for her newest album Black Widow.
We took imagery from her latest music video, which featured a classic 1950’s hearse, and clock tower. We only had a few colors to work with, so it was a challenge to draw so many different subjects in the same composition without relying on full color.

This was a fun illustration I created for a client for their apparel brand that caters to military families. The design, Military Brats, depicts the children of Navy, Marines, Army, and Airforce soldiers emerging from a moving box on a base, coping with the uncertain life of constant upheaval from base to base.
It was a fun challenge to depict each child in a way that captures the aspects of each particular branch of the military.

Here’s a t-shirt I illustrated for a grocery store chain in Switzerland that specializes in American food, featuring whimsical animal characters coming out of the store loaded with great American trashy foods.
The great Steve Nazar (T&C Surf) had designed their characters previously, so it was a lot of fun to pick up where he left off and create some new characters inspired by that style.

I was hired to design this logo of Zeus among two ordinary mortals in togas for apparel and a vehicle wrap for the russefeiring tradition. If you haven’t heard of it, basically russefeiring involves an entire class of Norwegian students renting a bus (a Russebuss), painting every inch of it with really cool street art, and then partying in it night and day for an entire month during graduation. The different classes wear their designs ever where they go as they clash with rival classes. Fun limited color silkscreen t-shirt I created for a Shrimp Gumbo festival in Alabama featuring a handsome shrimp serenading a beautiful shrimps and the rest of the beach-goers.
The design was a fun challenge because the client liked my colorful full-color beach designs, and wanted something similar. But we could only use a limited silk-screen palette. I used halftones to cheat on some colors. We chose to draw the scene at night to make it unique to the previous year’s designs.

Illustration I created for a new apparel line showcasing the lures by Rapala for fisherman. The brand wanted something really edgy and dark, so we gave the fish a pretty menacing look. It’s always a fun challenge taking on a detailed scene like this when limited to a smaller silk-screen palette. This design was set up with halftones.

I created these concept illustrations of a steampunk family of adventurers for an educational publisher called Bogardpress. The character designs will be used to illustrate their educational materials and lessons. Each year the team uses a different theme and concept to tie their lessons together. I really enjoyed the whole process, from developing the characters in sketches, to coloring and rendering the final versions. I tried to add a bit of style into the characters to keep them from becoming generic.
