Tooldog’s House of Trades
Description:
Fun steampunk inspired logo I worked on for a masonry school called ToolDog’s House of Trades.
The crew decided on a steampunk theme, and we came up with this tough looking dog holding a giant putty knife. I designed both the character and the logo type and provided both for their materials.

Thomas Good
Description:
A fantasy author hired me to create this book cover illustration of his characters for his youth fantasy series of the Green Knight.
I love the challenge of designing characters from just a brief outline of a story. The client asked me to create this in a softer pencil and digital painting style which is pretty different from my line-art driven style. Real happy with how this turned out.

Van’s General Store
Description:
Van’s General Store in NYC hired me to create this insane illustration of a crazy tattooed shark riding a bike through the city.
This was designed for a set of jackets as promotional gifts for the employees – the illustration is packed with symbols that represent different aspects of all their personalities. No need to explain, it wouldn’t help! Had a lot of fun with this.

My brother Keith is a super-talented pop-up engineer working at American Greetings – he's created this incredible pop-up book completely by himself by waking up at 5AM every morning before the rest of the fam gets up. He's launching the book via Kickstarter (WHICH STARTS TODAY!), and it would really mean a lot to me if you guys checked out his work. So inspiring! He poured everything he had into this – couldn't be more proud!http://www.messypopup.com/#pop-up #childrensbook #kickstarter #art Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Close-up view of a skeleton rider illustration I created just for myself to try out some new coloring techniques. I tried to skip the ink stage with this one, and instead just color over top some hard pencil lines. Wasaga Beach
Description:
I created this poster illustration of a motorcycle on the beach for the Wasaga Beach Rally in 2016.
Never been to the beach, but it looks amazing – it’s part of the longest fresh water beach in the world, located in Ontario Canada. The rally is one of the biggest around apparently – it was a thrill to be hired to do the t-shirt.

Description:
I was hired to design this quirky series of characters based on a fantasy podcast for their marketing materials.
The podcast is a sort of sci-fi fantasy teleplay based around these alien characters. The client wanted me to create these characters in a humorous, detailed style.

Thanks for all the positive comments about my Rick and Morty design. The shirt will be printed as one of three official Rick and Morty shirts soon. As part of the prize pack, I get a sweet comic signed by the creators of the show, which I'm pretty psyched about. Thanks to all who have ordered prints as well! This is a personal piece I did for myself recently of a biker skeleton riding through flames on a motorcycle. Pretty cutting edge stuff, I know! I experimented with some new techniques here that I’m happy with – combining a bit of digital painting with comic book lineart. I’m hoping to license this artwork for other uses, and print it on some apparel.Pick it up here:https://www.rageon.com/products/skeleton-rider#skeletonrider #skull #biker #art #illustration #tshirt #freelance #FlylandDesigns Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Here were the digital inks for my official Rick and Morty tribute illustration – I think the most difficult part was narrowing down which of the hundreds of insane characters to cram into the shirt. Originally wanted to get the whole family in there, but ran out of room pretty quick.#rickandmorty #ink #mangastudio Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Which of my art styles do you think is better? I often switch between a line-art driven comic book style, and a digital painting style depending on the project. The line-art style is more familiar to me, and I think it's easier to convey a strong identifiable style in the artwork. But the digital painting style can come across as more realistic, and is often what clients in the darker genre are looking for.Which of these is a stronger piece? Thanks for your help!#digitalpainting #art #zombie #trooper #outlaw Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Awesome news! My artwork was hand-picked by the creators of Rick and Morty to be printed as one of three official t-shirts they are releasing soon! If this is too much America for you, then you can GIIIIIITTT OOOOUTT!!All-over-print dye-sublimated wrestling singlet design I created for BlueChip wrestling. This design was for their patriotic catalog, featuring a big angry eagle clutching a banner in front of a textured American Flag. Bongjour
Description:
I illustrated this t-shirt design for Bongjour in conjunction with the popular Chief Greenbud to celebrate his song “It’s 4:20 Somewhere,” a parody of Jimmy Buffet’s tune. The design was printed as full-color direct to garment. For this design, I tried a new technique: instead of inking the design, I just scanned in my pencil drawing (which was done on paper) and colored the piece underneath the pencils. I’m pretty happy with the result – it gives it a more realistic, and vibrant, and softer feel.
Client:
Bukshot
Description:
I illustrated this promotional poster and album cover for the hip-hop artist Bukshot who partnered with Violent J from The Insane Clown Posse, Madchild, and JellyRoll. The album was a special edition, and released in a DVD sized package, which allowed me to create a cool portrait orientation, instead of having to squeeze everything into a tiny square. Bukshot wanted the four artists illustrated as comic book characters, fighting a horde of zombies. I enjoyed this so much!
Inking a variation on a zombie outlaw I had done previously for a Motorcycle Club – this time I'm attempting a more line-art driven illustration rather than a digital painting, because the design will also be embroidered on their jackets.#motorcycle #club #zombie #trooper #outlaw Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Here's the final S&W design I created – like the previous design, this one had to be set up as a limited color silk-screen job, which threw me some challenges. Working with larger clients like this can be nerve-wracking, but I was lucky that they were happy with the designs in the end.Illustrated by Brian Allen, FlylandDesigns.com#mangastudio #photoshop #illustration #tshirt #art #instaart #instaartist #picoftheday #igdaily #followme Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen

Commando Racing Gear
Description:
Digitally painted illustration of an angry Rottweiler taking a bite out of a big Piston for the racing brand Commando Racing Gear. This was a fun challenge to work on, because drawing realistic dogs, especially specific breeds, can be very tricky to get just right. I’m pretty happy with the result. This design will be separated to print with simulated process silk-screening and sold at drag racing shows and shops.

I was hired by a fabric pot manufacturer for growing plants to create a t-shirt for their conventions. They wanted something that displayed their product in a way that people would want to wear, even if they weren’t familiar with the product. Naturally, I went with a skull. The design was set up for limited color silk-screen (I believe 4 colors). They were kind enough to send me a shirt, and it turned out great!

This is a fun album cover illustration I created for a hard rock band called the Jokers for their new album, Hurricane. The idea was to have the band in a classic-looking car flying through the air to their next gig, and causing a hurricane behind them, destroying London below them. The band needed the album art in a really short amount of time, but we pulled it off in time, and they were quite happy with the result.Illustrated by Brian Allen, FlylandDesigns.com#mangastudio #albumcover #illustration #tshirt #art #instaart #instaartist #picoftheday #london #followme Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen

Description:
The band Hang The Jester hired me to create this detailed illustration of an evil jester made of a skull and horns for their latest album cover. The band asked me to create something with a very liited color scheme, and a lot of pen and ink detail. Unlike many of my other designs which are often 100% digital, I drew and inked this design on paper with technical pens and a brush.

Lochness Monster – Justin Shaner
Description:
Silk-screen poster illustration of a happy Loch Ness Monster I created for the band Lochness Monster. I had a blast working on this. The band gave me a ton of freedom on this design, and I came up with the idea of having the Loch Ness Monster looking friendly, with a severed arm dangling from its mouth, and the collected trophy/cameras of tourists hung around his neck. He’s an elusive fella! The design was set up for silk-screening using around 5 colors, created primarily for promotional posters and apparel for the band.
Client Testimonial:
They look awesome!! Thanks, really great job on this!!

Description:
T-Shirt illustration I created of a mutated Chem Dawg with three heads for a marijuana-themed apparel line. Each shirt in the collection celebrates a different strain. The client wanted me to illustrate a big crazy mutated, and glowing dog standing in a spilled container of toxic waste. I thought it would be funny to have each of the three heads to be a different dog breed with a different personality. More to come in this series! This design was created for direct-to-garment silk-screening.
Logo design I created of an evil pac-man for an arcade’s logo design and branding. The client wanted something identifiable to the retro gaming crowd, while putting a hard and extreme edge on the style. T-Shirt illustration I created for a marijuana-themed apparel line. Each shirt in the collection celebrates a different strain. I had the idea of putting a melted sour patch kid on the grill of the truck. More to come in this series!

Blowfish Vapes
Description:
Logo design I illustrated of a punk rock blowfish for a vaping brand called Blowfish Competition Vape. When we started, the only concept we had was the name “Blowfish Vapes,” so I experimented with a few different styles of blowfish, including one that was a salty pirate. We like the concept of making the blowfish a punk rocker with a mohawk and piercings, including a big hook through his lip. I tried to use a color palette with high contrast so it would stand out when it’s printed on the small label that goes on a vaping label.

This is a detailed series of illustrations I created for a children’s book teaching kids about construction. Each double-page spread was packed with animal characters, vehicles, tools, and activities. The book challenges kids to hunt out objects and solve problems within the illustration, so I had to draw everything in a way that certain elements were intentionally hard to find. I had a lot of fun with this, because I had a lot of freedom to design the characters and draw them in my style. Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen

Concept art characters I created for a book publisher, taking characters we had already created, and outfitting them for exploring the undersea depths! The character designs will be used to illustrate their educational materials and lessons. Each year the team uses a different theme and concept to tie their lessons together. I really enjoyed the whole process, from developing the characters in sketches, to coloring and rendering the final versions. I tried to add a bit of style into the characters to keep them from becoming generic. I especially enjoyed creating the robot character.

Everyone was very happy with what you have done. Very impressed.
