Description:
A series of character concept turn-arounds I illustrated for a series of vinyl zombie figurines that will be manufactured and sold in a catalog. This isn’t the first time I’ve created turn-arounds for figurines, but it’s the first zombie series. I can’t wait to see how the final molded and painted models turn out. To make this as efficient as possible, I first sent sketches to the client for just the front view. Once approved, I used a 3D model in Manga Studio, positioned it close to the position of the front view, and then turned it to the side and back. I then drew the other angles using that model as reference. Pretty effective little trick!
I was recently hired to illustrate and design this eagle logo for a new apparel brand for gun-enthusiasts called Kick Brass. The logo was needed in a very short period of time to get it ready for a sales pitch, so we scrambled to come up with as many ideas as possible in the beginning. After looking over the sketches, we went in the direction of a bronze eagle with bullets for feathers. I wanted the emblem to look like a military badge of honor. I set up the logo in several different variations: one-color, limited-color silk-screening, and a full-color version.Illustrated by Brian Allen, FlylandDesigns.com#military #photoshop #illustration #logodesign #art #instaart #instaartist #eagle #igdaily #followme Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen

Happy Halloween! The end of the #Inktober challenge has arrived, and I DID it – I drew and posted an ink drawing every day this month. Thanks so much for all the positive comments, and for sticking with me – I always hate to bombard people with posts. Question: Which of the 31 sketches I posted was your favorite?I absolutely need to make this part of my daily routine – I forgot how much fun it is to draw just for drawing's sake.#inktober #clown #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
I sketched this squirrely mad scientist in pen and ink for day 29 of #Inktober.#inktober #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Just a couple days away from the end of the #Inktober challenge, and it looks like I'm going to make it (and not miss a day). Here's a nice drawing of a guy who looks like Abe Lincoln for absolutely no reason at all.#inktober #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
On the 27th Day of #Inktober , my pen brush brought to me, some kind of weird naked creature with bad teeth and misshapen head.#inktober #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
It's Day 26 of the #Inktober challenge, and it's time of a big angry screaming flaming head. Long overdue I think.Would love to make a tshirt from this.#inktober #ink #face #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
(shoot forgot to post this last night) Back to back #tiki ink drawings for #Inktober ! This was a concept I had sketched out a while ago and always wanted to bring it to life. I really dig this idea – I might take this further and make it into a t-shirt design at some point.#inktober #tiki #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
(oops, forgot to post this yrsterday) Here's my ink drawing for the 24th day of #inktober – STILL haven't missed a day! This #tiki head drawing was found in the dense jungles of South America.#inktober #tiki #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
For day 23 of the #Inktober challenge, I drew this ink drawing of a bookish squid monster. I'm not sure why, but this is one of my favorites for the whole month. Thanks for all the positive feedback, people!#inktober #squid #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen

For Day 21 of #Inktober , I came up with this adorable little creature serving up sushi. Makes sense to me. Drawn with a Pentel Brush pen.#inktober #sushi #ink #sketch #brush #pentel #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
For #inktober 20th, I wanted to draw something completely different, so I sketched out this tough bionic superhero chick. I'm ready do discuss movie rights.#inktober #superhero #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
#Inktober 19 is here, and so am I. I drew up this buck-toothed vampire inspired by Nosferatu with a Pentel pocket brush pen.#inktober #vampire #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Day 18 of #Inktober and #Drawlloween – My brain wasn't working today, so I decided to draw my go-to idea when I'm out of ideas: the tiki #mask. Thanks for all the encouraging support!#inktober #drawlloween #mask #tiki #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Happy #Inktober and #Drawlloween ! This is a drawing of one of the most feared and mysterious #demons in the darkest depths of the underworld. Day 16 of #Inktober is here, and I still haven't missed a day. Though I've had to spend less time on some of these than I had wanted. Today's drawing is an angry fish. Thanks for all the great feedback and support with these, means a lot!#inktober #ink #fish #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
This drawing I did for #Inktober Day 15 shows another one of my early sources of inspiration – Todd McFarlane from Spawn. This wasn't meant to look like the Violator character when I started drawing, but it turned out that way. Pro Drawing Tip: If your character isn't looking great, stick a cigar in his mouth. Problem solved.#inktober #ink #sketch #clown #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
#Inktober 14th's drawing seems to be a bit inspired by John Kricfalusi (Ren and Stimpy) – such an amazing artist.#inktober #ink #sketch #clown #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
For day 13 of #Inktober, I drew this fat little creature. Why do all the characters I draw have horrible teeth?#inktober #ink #alien #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
#Inktober 12th! I'm happy to say that I haven't missed a day yet. It's sometimes a little painful coming up with something new to draw everyday.#inktober #ink #sketch #brush #nailthroughthehead #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
#Inktober 11th! I'm happy to say that I haven't missed a day yet. Today's theme is giant monsters brushing their teeth with trees. Here's what I came up with.#inktober #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
And on the 10th day of #Inktober – Not sure what happened here, just sketching a blob alien with the robot equivalent of skinny jeans. #inktober #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #drawlloween #alien#illustration #tshirt #art #instaart #instaartist #picoftheday #igdaily #followme Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen

#Inktober Day 6! Day 5 of #Inktober! This is a little throwback to a clown face I used to draw a lot when i didn't know what else to draw. I did a painting of it too a long time ago, which was quite terrible.#ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #clown#mangastudio #photoshop #illustration #tshirt #art #instaart #instaartist #picoftheday #igdaily #followme Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Third day of #InkTober! I'm really enjoying forcing myself to just have some quick sketching fun on paper again – I need to make this part of my daily routine when October is over. I came up with this idea of alien bug serving sushi. Genius? Ridiculous? Perhaps we'll never know.#inktober #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #sushi #conceptart #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
Day 2 of #InkTober! So here's a pen and ink sketch of Man-Worm (or Worm-Man, still deciding).I wish I had a clever artistic reasoning to explain why this image exists, but I've got nothing. Thanks for all the love on my first sketch – I'm really excited about this – I haven't been this motivated to create my own stuff in a while.#inktober #worm #ink #sketch #brush #blackandwhite #art #instaartist #brianallen Work in progress from the desk of illustrator Brian Allen
I'm going to be participating in #InkTober this year, which is an artist challenge started by Jake Parker where we have to draw and post a new ink drawing (traditional, no digital!) every day of the month of October.I'm really excited about it, because I really need to force myself to spend more time drawing just for me (no offense, Mr. Client). Here is the first drawing in the series. Morbid Industries
Description:
I was hired by Morbid Industries to sketch concepts for new horror masks they will be producing and distributing in Halloween stores this season. The sketches will be used by the scultpors as reference to create the masks. This was a really fun project because the art directors gave me a lot of freedom in creating the creatures.
