I really enjoy illustrating mascot characters for a brand’s website, packaging, T-Shirt, and logo. First, after researching your company, we begin with a series of rough sketches, that takes the character in as many different directions as I can think of. Maybe the mascot is an animal? Maybe it’s an attractive young woman? Maybe it’s a stapler? We really won’t know until we see them sketched out on paper. Once we’ve established a direction we like, I begin rendering the character. The goal is to come up with a character that is unique and instantly identifiable by the your target demographic. It has to have an exciting shape and silhouette, so that it can be legible at a small size, and the mascot character has to be designed for the specific space it will occupy.
