The Unbroken

Description:

The New York band, The Unbroken hired me to create this insanely detailed illustration of crusaders clashing with a horde of demon soldiers, parting in the middle to show our Unbroken hero in the middle of the fray.

I love working on projects like this where I can just put my headphones on and get absorbed in all the details of each creature and soldier. It’s a challenge to keep it from becoming a tangled mess. I tried to keep all the colors limited so that the focus would rest on the solitary warrior in the middle.

I also update the band’s logo to match the illustration.

Client Testimonial:

Absolutely amazing! The guys love it!

New Hong Kong

Description:

The band New Hong Kong hired me to illustrate their album cover for The King Makes The Rules, showing a bunch of evil monsters sparring with a young vampire hunter.

The band wanted it to be creepy but still fun, so I kept the gore to a minimum and the colors saturated. I illustrated the mummy, werewolf, zombie, and pirate skeleton in a heavy brushed ink style, trying to emulate the amazing Tales from the Crypt covers by Jack Davis. The band was really fun to work with, and the final result ended up fitting their music perfectly.

Client Testimonial:

This looks amazing and everyone loves it. We’re super excited—it turned out amazing as I knew it would.

Gross and disgusting restaurant

Client:

A La Carte

Description:

Album cover design I created for the band A La Carte showing a disgusting restaurant with eyeballs, fingers, brains, rats, and even a toilet.

The band wanted me to create an album cover with a lot of gross details, as if a fine restaurant was being run by a deranged cannibal. The illustration covers the front and back cover. I also had the privilege to design the band’s logo as well, which was made to look like a goopy, drippy mess.

Client Testimonial:

We couldn’t be happier with the atmosphere you captured on this piece.

Description:
Insane werewolf creature wrecking havoc in the oval office – Not a political statement, just something I drew last year for the band Neverdawn for their new album cover.
This is easily one of my favorite album covers I’ve ever been apart of. So much fun. A throwback to the massive detail and destruction in the album covers I was raised on by Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and the like.

Listenable Records

Description:

Listenable Records hired me to illustrated this Black Sabbath tribute album cover of their red winged demon.

I tried to pump as much of my style into it, while still keeping the pose close enough that fans of the early Black Sabbath material would get it.  We put some headphones on the demon for fun.  Always a pleasure working with these guys!

Bukshot

Description:

I illustrated this promotional poster and album cover for the hip-hop artist Bukshot who partnered with Violent J from The Insane Clown Posse, Madchild, and JellyRoll.  The album was a special edition, and released in a DVD sized package, which allowed me to create a cool portrait orientation, instead of having to squeeze everything into a tiny square.  Bukshot wanted the four artists illustrated as comic book characters, fighting a horde of zombies.  I enjoyed this so much!

Always a pleasure working with my friends at Listenable Records. For this year’s sampler featuring the labels best tracks, we chose to pay tribute to the classic Defenders of the Faith album cover from Judas Priest. I thought it would be cool to draw a samurai in the same art style and color scheme as that record, and really give it a nice retro theme, with bright primary colors. Really dig the way this came out – might make a great sticker.

I love it, colours are perfect , there’s a vintage feel too in the logo and overall colours, it’s great!

This is a fun album cover illustration I created for a hard rock band called the Jokers for their new album, Hurricane. The idea was to have the band in a classic-looking car flying through the air to their next gig, and causing a hurricane behind them, destroying London below them. I tried to hide a lot of detail into the design swirling around them in the hurricane, like roadies, amps, guitars, and british artifacts. The band needed the album art in a really short amount of time, but we pulled it off in time, and they were quite happy with the result.

Speed-Inking Tutorial video I created for the process of digitally inking an album cover for the Brazillian band John Wayne in Manga Studio 5 (Clip Studio Paint) with a Wacom Cintiq 24HD.

The album cover I illustrated was for the Brazilian heavy metal band John Wayne (named after John Wayne Gacy – not the other guy). It was a great pleasure working on this with the band, as they gave me a lot of freedom, and I set upon the design without much planning, and tried to let it flow. This album cover is the first in a set of two albums, that when placed together will form one cohesive image. This album represents the dark side, while the following album will have a similar design, but mirrored, and “lighter.”

This is a very detailed illustrated album cover I created for the heavy metal band called DemonHead. The idea was to have a troubled kid rolling a 12-sided die that causes catastrophe behind him. I was just interviewed by Metal Band Art!
http://metalbandart.com/?p=3994

I’m really excited because a ton of super talented artists are on the site, like TOO MANY SKULLS (by Raf The Might), JoshuaAndrewBelanger, and Mark Riddick (RIDDICKART)) to name just a few.

Obviously, there’s been some huge mistake, so please go check out the interview before they take it down!

Here’s an unusual one.  I was commissioned to illustrate this album cover combining the iconic Rammstein cover, with the Breaking Bad anti-hero, Hesienberg.  The band is a fictional german industrial band playing Breaking Bad themed songs.  The challenge was to create something that fans would both recovnize as a Rammstein and Breaking Bad tribute at the same time.  We had a lot of fun with this.

You can purchase the album from the artist here:  Facebook.com/crannstein

This album cover for the hardcore metal band, Killing For Christ, was a fun challenge.  The client wanted to illustrate what it might look like if all the world’s religions duked it out.  We were careful to keep the illustration dark, but still humorous, so it’s obvous that this is a tongue-in-cheek rendition of the apocalypse (throwing in a few cultural icons like Kermit and Fozzy the Bear helped with that, I think).  Of course, it’s not true heavy metal if no one gets at least slightly offended!
