Escobear Russ Logo
Famed druglord Pablo Escobar rears in his leashed rabid attack bear in this illustration we did for a russ logo. The design was for apparel and a vehicle wrap for the russefeiring tradition. If you haven’t heard of it, basically russefeiring involves an entire class of Norwegian students renting a bus (a Russebuss), painting every inch of it with really cool street art, and then partying in it night and day for an entire month during graduation. The different classes wear their designs ever where they go as they clash with rival classes. I’ve done a bunch of these now, and really enjoy it. I was hired by a fabric pot manufacturer for growing plants to create a t-shirt for their conventions featuring this hipster bear character we came up with, holding one of their fabric pots. They wanted something that displayed their product in a way that people would want to wear, even if they weren’t familiar with the product. This was printed with direct-to-garment full-color printing. They were kind enough to send me a shirt, and it turned out great!

Client:
Boy Scouts of America
Description:
I was thrilled recently to work with Boy Scouts of America illustrating their Bear, Wolf, and Tiger mascots for a catalog that went out to all troops nationwide. We created illustrations that blended real studio photos of kids in Boy Scouts gear, and drawn into a comic book background. The marketing team hired me to reinvent the existing mascot illustrations in my own style. I was a Cub Scout long ago, so it was a lot of fun to leave a little mark on the organization.

Custom illustration I created for a website splash page and fantasy game. I was asked to draw the game’s heroes, who are infected with a mutating virus, along with their sidekicks: a zombie jaguar and a zombie bear. The client and I invisioned a world where not even the plant-life has escaped being mutated by the zombie virus.
I created this in Manga Studio and Adobe Photoshop.
Cartoon mascot illustration of a Bear playing playing basketball I created for Great Dane Graphics and their children’s sports line. The graphic will be used for T-Shirts and other products for kids’ sport teams. The client wanted these designs to be fully rendered digital paintings, without lineart, which is not the typical style I work in. I’m happy with how they turned out.
Mascot design and illustration for Benner Elementary School I created in conjunction with Lake Creative.
Shannon Lake and I were tasked with reinventing their bear mascot into something fun and colorful that the children could identify with. This was a really fun personal project, because my son Michael just started Kindergarten at this school. It’s a really cool feeling to walk in the school and see kids here and there wearing the T-Shirt. Michael loves wearing it, though it’s a couple sizes too big for him!
