The Jokers
Description:
Album cover illustration I created for the UK-based rock band The Jokers for their newest album “Voodoo,” illustrating an evil witchdoctor holding voodoo doll likenesses of each member of the band.
Always enjoy working with these guys – they don’t take themselves too seriously, and it’s exactly the kind of music I grew up with. It’s often very tricky to get so much of the scene into such a tiny space, but I’m happy with the composition we came up with. I love the crow chewing up the Union Jack.
#Festival #poster I designed for Squatchfest this Saturday in Kane, PA featuring the most famous #Sasquatch #BigFoot himself coming out of hiding and playing with a lot of great bands. Had a ton of fun with this – great to give back to my once temporary home-town.⠀

George Murray
Description:
Weird and fun commission poster I illustrated of a Venus Fly Trap emerging from a toilet in a decrepit bathroom chomping on a guitar.
The artwork was done on request for a private collector who packed this piece with symbolism that probably only makes sense to him, haha. But sometimes, that can be the most fun, to just draw and explore, and not be so pinned down to reality. This was created completely in Manga Studio, and I published a live digital painting demonstration on YouTube as I worked.

Hard Rock Daddy
Description:
Custom logo design I created for the rock music website Hard Rock Daddy of a mohawk doting skull with wings.
The client wanted something iconic and with a lot of character, so that we could later create a storyline with the mascot in different situations for t-shirts and other promotional items. The mohawk is a signature trait of the owner of the brand – we made it a vibrant blue, which will be carried out through all of the website’s branding.
We cycled through several different compositions and angles until we got it just right.

Cryptic Affection
Description:
Album cover I created for the religious metal band Cryptic Affection. The band approached me with a symbol-packed layout sketch, and set me loose on the design. I really enjoyed pumping in all the detail and finding a place for everything in this complex composition.
Client Testimonial:
It’s stunning looking! I am very impressed on how professional and talented you are.
Again, thanks a lot! We are very pleased with working with you.

Mooch Clothing
Description:
Crowd of zombies I illustrated coming out of the legendary CBGB club for Mooch Clothing.
Had a great time creating the different punk characters. Would a mohawk really stay intact on the undead? I like to think so. Illustrated in Manga Studio 5, and separated for limited color silk-screen.

Tommy Justice
Description:
Tommy Justice hired me to create this limited color skull and roses t-shirt design for his special-lady fans.
He’s got a great retro 80s hair-metal vibe that I tried to inject a little into the design.

Lochness Monster – Justin Shaner
Description:
Silk-screen poster illustration of a happy Loch Ness Monster I created for the band Lochness Monster. I had a blast working on this. The band gave me a ton of freedom on this design, and I came up with the idea of having the Loch Ness Monster looking friendly, with a severed arm dangling from its mouth, and the collected trophy/cameras of tourists hung around his neck. He’s an elusive fella! The design was set up for silk-screening using around 5 colors, created primarily for promotional posters and apparel for the band.
Client Testimonial:
They look awesome!! Thanks, really great job on this!!

Blowfish Vapes
Description:
Logo design I illustrated of a punk rock blowfish for a vaping brand called Blowfish Competition Vape. When we started, the only concept we had was the name “Blowfish Vapes,” so I experimented with a few different styles of blowfish, including one that was a salty pirate. We like the concept of making the blowfish a punk rocker with a mohawk and piercings, including a big hook through his lip. I tried to use a color palette with high contrast so it would stand out when it’s printed on the small label that goes on a vaping label.
I’m SO proud to be sharing this. I’ve been working with the metal band Straying From Madness for a while on a music video for their new single, about the band fighting for their lives in a zombie apocalypse. I illustrated all the characters, zombies, and backgrounds, and then a very talented video artist put it all together.
It was an immensely challenging and rewarding project, and I’m thrilled with ho it turned out. We working on a very tight deadline and budget restraints, so I elected to illustrate it in a very rough style, which is very different for me. Typically, I like to draw things first as a rough sketch, then a pencil sketch, then ink and color. This gives me a chance to work out the anatomy and details as I go to make sure they are correct. With this project, I skipped the middle step and just went for it, and colored in a very limited color scheme to save time. I think in the end, that choice actually added a lot of character to the video. It is after all, the Apocalypse.
Special thanks to Larz and the rest of the band at Straying From Madness. They are fantastic to work with, and I wish them nothing but ridiculous Rock Star success.
